Ashley Graham is famous for being an incredibly successful female athlete, and her weight loss program, called The Ashley Graham Method, is responsible for many people losing their excess weight. She has been actively involved in athletics since childhood and continues to compete in swimming, track and field events. Ashley Graham's weight loss journey begins at her birth in October of 1976. Her parents, Frank and Kathy were quite concerned about her health when she was born, because she had extremely large feet, weighing almost twice as much as her mother. Her birth certificate indicated that she was seven pounds underweight. Her pediatrician encouraged them to obtain a specialized doctor to help treat her. Frank and Kathy decided to give Ashley the name Ashley Hanks, in order to make her feel more secure about her weight and image.

Fitness was not always an issue for Ashley. As a child, she was an avid swimmer and tennis player, and never felt the need to try to lose weight. Instead, she enjoyed every day life, participating in organized sports and taking part in activities that she loved. As an adult, she pursued an education and pursued a Ph.D in Exercise Physiology at the University of Colorado. During her studies, she decided that she wanted to help others live a healthier lifestyle, and so she began to research body positivity. Ashley eventually earned a master's degree in human sciences, focusing in exercise science, and started her own practice in 2021.

Ashley's weight loss strategy centered around creating a workout program that incorporated movement. She found the best workouts by combining cardio with strength training and aerobics. This combination allowed her to workout five days a week, while still feeling like she was moving at a moderate pace.

Her workout plan also included a strong focus on diet, since a healthy diet plan was thought to keep the weight off and keep the body healthy. Ashley was inspired to find an alternative to the typical diet plan by reading the book Let's See What Food Can Do for You by Gary Null. She felt that the idea of eating for energy was a great way to add variety to her food selections, so she added green juice to her diet plan.

By incorporating a variety of foods that allowed her to have different flavors, Ashley was able to create an ever-changing menu that she never got tired of. She served up carrot, celery sticks, broccoli, cauliflower, cherry tomato and orange segments for her diet plan. Her goal was to serve up different combinations and colors each day, and to be able to adjust her portion sizes without having to go crazy on calories. After adapting her diet plan and working out, Ashley started to think about how she could get her body in better shape. She had always looked at her thighs as an area of her body that just didn't respond well to exercise. She also did light yoga to keep her body toned and her breath even.
